Policing There have been some instances of theft of goods and cash from some of the local premises, during opening hours.

In the most recent, on a Saturday afternoon, the Police were in attendance and informed the shop-keeper not to open on the Monday until the forensic specialists had done their work.

By Monday lunchtime, they had still not arrived. No apology, no reason.

On previous occasions, when video evidence was available, the matter was not pursued. Why was this?

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime?

Shop Frontage - Display of Goods The local council has been warning shop-keepers that displaying merchandise on the pavement in front of their premises constitutes a safety hazard, and should be stopped.

However, by paying the council for a licence, the hazard mysteriously disappears! How can this be?
